Pssssst... want to know a secret? Lake Ashby Park is one of Volusia County's best kept secrets! This relaxing park offers a winding boardwalk through a hammock that is ideal for birdwatching. Beautiful cypress knees are another natural feature to be admired. Picnic pavilions, camping and horseshoes are available also.

Activity description:
Do you know where you're going? Do you know how to get there? Use a compass! You'll feel confident depending on your compass after a discussion on the proper use and function of this navigational piece of equipment. Hike through Lake Ashby Park, in teams of two or three, on a timed, charted course. Meet back at the point of origin where you'll complete your orientation exercise with a fun achievement evaluation.
